People usually thought of "beach shoes" as the rubber sandals, which were known as "flip-flops" or "thongs". Beach shoes were not always present in the fashion scene. They were usually just something that you could wear on your feet if you are headed to the beach.
However, beach shoes have come a long way. Today, there are endless choices of beach shoes with different designs and styles made by different manufacturers that are trendy and stylish, but still maintain their functionality.
Presently, rubber flip-flops are still worn by people to the beach. However, they are now used at other places and events where there is no grain of sand in sight. They have evolved into fabulous fashion accessories which could help you achieve a laid-back and beachy look, even if you never intend to step foot on the shore.
Flip-flops are available in all kinds of materials and styles today. There are leather ones, which look great for beach, wear, as well as for casual wear like women's sundresses or a polo shirt and Bermuda short combination for men. There are some designs, which have bamboo soles, suede straps, velvet straps, and rubber soles, which have massaging foot pads. There are even some styles made with denim or hemp.
Beach shoes need not be of a flip-flop style either. They could just be some regular sandals, which are designed to be worn easily and comfortable as you walk on sand. They could also be tennis shoes designed for walking, jogging or running on the sand. Basically, beach shoes that are styled like tennis shoes have an arched sole, which compensates for the softness of the sand you would be walking on, as well as a soft material, which offers comfort and "breathe-ability".
